Stuart Cunliffe joins Eurofund Group to lead a new mandate to unlock potential from alternative UK assets.
London, 31 March 2023 – Eurofund Group, the international real estate investment and development company behind numerous successful real estate projects in Europe and the UK, is delighted to welcome Stuart Cunliffe to the Eurofund Group family. He will spearhead a new alternative investment mandate identifying diversified investments in the UK, starting with immediate effect.
Cunliffe’s appointment is part of a new and broader initiative by Eurofund Group to capitalise on the success of its first premier UK retail asset, Silverburn, Glasgow – acquired a year ago this month. He will identify and pursue a new, second stream of asset acquisitions that target underperforming, sub-regional assets challenged by the need for repurposing or significant transformation to transform them into mixed use assets.
Alberto Esguevillas, CEO UK Retail, Eurofund Group, commented, “Stuart brings a wealth of experience in the UK and Europe that will inform how we select the right assets and combine novel approaches with our existing strategy to bring continued success in this area.”
As with its other successful projects across Europe, Eurofund Group continues to seek out acquisitions that represent a clear ‘value-add’ opportunity. Cunliffe will work under a distinct mandate to identify smaller alternative assets that would benefit from investment to transform them into mixed-use asset.
During his successful career, he has spent many years working in Europe on shopping centre strategic partners, using his financial expertise and gaining considerable direct asset management experience. He was also a consultant to Ronesans Group, advising on large-scale retail projects in Turkey, Russia and North Africa.
Stuart Cunliffe, UK Investment Director, Eurofund Group added, “I am energised and excited to join one of Europe’s—and the UK’s—most dynamic and forward thinking retail investment and asset management teams.”
Most recently, he was a Senior Director of one of the UK’s leading consultancies and completed around 20 UK shopping centre acquisitions in recent years, for both private investors and Local Authorities. He will be leading the search for new purchases across the country with a focus on retail repositioning and repurposing with our JV partners.
Ian Sandford, Chairman, Eurofund Group commented, “Stuart is a highly knowledgeable and professional individual, with the skillset we need to spearhead Eurofund Group’s continued diversification of assets in the UK. It is my pleasure to welcome him on board and I’m excited for what the future holds.”
